Provincial Home Minister, Dr Zulfiqar Ali Mirza, has directed the Sindh police to fully assist the local administration in relief and rescue works in view of the impending floods. In a directive issued here on Monday, he asked the police to assist in shifting of the people from vulnerable areas to the safer points, establishment of relief camps and monitoring of the protective bunds along the Indus river.
He also instructed that liaison and contact with the officials of the relevant departments and DCOs be ensured at the district level. The Home Minister also directed that a central control room be established at the CPO here. He said that in view of the impending floods, the police should remain on high alert, ensure security of the people and keep a vigilant eye on criminal elements. Dr Mirza said that the police in collaboration with the officials of the concerned departments should also monitor the protective bunds.
