Petition filed against foreign visits of politicians, officials

06 Aug, 2010

Barrister Javed Iqbal Jaffrey has filed a petition before the Lahore High Court (LHC) against the foreign visits of politicians and high officials, including President Asif Ali Zardari, on the expense of national exchequer. Jaffrey submitted that these leaders should go on foreign tours at their own expenses as a large amount of national exchequer was being used for these tours.
He said President Zardari owns personal residences in UK and France, but he lives in highly paid luxurious hotels whenever he visits these countries. Petitioner prayed to the court to issue directions that foreign tours of rulers and high officials should not be carried out on state expenses and they should stay in economical hotels abroad instead of living in luxurious hotels.
