Country facing worst floods in history: Taseer

Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer has observed that Pakistan is facing worst floods in its history and it is difficult to assess the losses caused by floods. He expressed these views during a joint press conference with US Consul General Lahore Carmela Conroy here on Friday. The Governor also said the nation is going through a difficult time and thus we all need to unite at this time of hour.
"Thus, I appeal to all, especially to the business community, to come forward and help the unfortunate people affected by floods," he added. On the occasion, US Consul General Lahore Carmela Conroy told the media that the US government and its people are keen to play their role in rehabilitation of flood affectees in Pakistan and in this connection the US government would give $35 million aid to Pakistan. "With the help of Red Crescent and National disaster Management, the US would provide food and water to the flood victims and it would also provide six helicopter, six filtration plants and 12 temporary bridges," she added.
