The Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Friday issued releasing orders of six persons who were detained in different districts under maintenance of public order. The court also imposed fine of Rs 10,000 each on District Co-ordination Officers (DCOs) concerned for issuing detention orders of the petitioners without revealing any evidence against them.
Hakim Ullah Moawaiya, Rana Naeem, Khalil Ahmad Butt (Sheikhupura), Syed Arif Nawaz (Narowal), Malik Muhammad Ashique (TT. Singh) and Muhammad Yaqoob (Sialkot) challenged their detention orders issued by DCO concerned.
Petitioner's counsel Khalil ur Rehman Khan pleaded that the government issued detention orders of his clients without disclosing any allegation against them. He said the detention orders issued by the DCOs concerned only revealed that the petitioners could disturb law and order situation in the district and they were needed to be detained. After hearing the arguments of the counsel the court set aside the impugned detention orders.
