Federal Minister for Environment Hameedullah Jan Afridi presented best environment reporting awards to Mukhtar Alam (Daily Dawn), Nawaz Khuhro (PPI News Agency), Abid Hassan (Dawn News TV), Dr Irfan Baig (Daily Jang Quetta) besides distributing awards to 58 companies at the 7th Environment Excellence Award 2010 ceremony organised by the National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH) in collaboration with Ministry of Environment, United Nations Environment Programme held at local hotel recently.
The awards were decided by a jury of five judges including environment expert Afia Salam, Dr Sami-uz-Zaman Head of Jury, Shamsul Haq Memon Member Jury & former Secretary Environment Sindh, Nadeem Arif Member Jury & Environment Consultant and Gulzar Feroz Member Jury & Chairman FPCCI Standing Committee on Environment.
On this occasion Federal Minister appreciated role of media to highlight environment issues, challenges and promotion of awareness. He announced ministry would arrange visit of environment journalist in various countries for their knowledge and sharing of information. President NFEH Naeem Qureshi, Chairman Dr Kaiser Waheed, Federal Secretary Environment Javed Malik were also present on the occasion.-PR
