Gangster 'Kalu Current', five accomplices killed in encounter with LEAs

Notorious gangster of Dalmia-Shanti Nagar, Saeed Baloch alias 'Kalu Current', and his five accomplices were killed in an encounter with Rangers and police in Shanti Nagar here on Sunday.
Rangers had received a tip-off early morning on Sunday that 'Kalo Current' and his associates were sleeping at an open ground behind Ghulam Rasheed Shaheed Police check post.
The rangers raided the place and encounter began with the bandits. In the trade of fire two aides of bandit Kalu Current were killed on the spot. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained.
Later, Police and Rangers launched a quick operation against Kalu Current and his gangsters in Dilwash Para, Jhando Para, the streets near UC-7 office, streets No 7 and 15 and other parts of Shanti Nagar.
In the trade with fire in streets, Saeed Baloch alias Kalu Current, aged 30, and his three close associates, Ismail Kanak, 26, Khan Moosa, 28, and Asghar Tato, 28, died on the spot. Their bodies were later shifted to Jinnah Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Station House Officer (SHO) of Aziz Bhatti Police Station, Safder Mashwani, when contacted, said that the Police and rangers conducted an operation early in the morning against all gangsters of Kalu Current and killed him along with his five aides at about 2:00 am in Shanti Nagar. Safdar said that as many as 200 suspects were arrested during the raids, while further probe was underway.
Heavy cache of arms including Kalashnikovs, hand-grenades and rocket launchers was recovered from the criminals. Kalu Current was wanted by police in over 16 cases of murder, kidnappings for ransom, drugs peddling, etc. Like the gang war in old city area Lyari, the exchange of fire between the two rival gangs in Dalmia area had become the order of the day, said SHO Mashwani. He expressed hope that peace of the restive area would be restored after the killings of these notorious gangs.
Police sources said that search operation was under way in Dilwash Para, Jhando Para, Farooq Karim Bux Para, Yaseen Football Club, Mangho Para and other parts of Dalmia-Shanti Nagar which would be cleared soon. During the operation two pedestrians, fisherman Ghulam Haider son of Abdul Sattar and one Sardar son of Ali Khan sustained bullet injuries, sources said.
