Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has postponed the death anniversary of his father to express solidarity with flood-hit people of the country. According to a press release issued on Sunday by the Prime Minister's media co-ordinator.
The Prime Minister has put off anniversary proceedings of his father Alamdar Hussain Gilani scheduled on Ramazan 3. He said money for the purpose would be spent for the provision of relief to flood-hit areas.
The death anniversary of the Prime Minister's father, who died in 1978, is observed on 3rd of Ramazan every year, and hundreds of people across the country participate in it.
Preparations for the anniversary were being made when the Prime Minister announced its postponement, the co-ordinator said. He added that the Prime Minister was visiting disaster areas to monitor relief work for victims as the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) would not leave them alone in the hour of need.
