Jamaat-e-Islami chief, Syed Munawar Hasan and JI Secretary General, Liaquat Baloch have strongly condemned the continuous ban on transmissions of private TV channels and said it was a sheer contempt of the High Court. In a joint statement here Monday, they said through the ban, channels were being punished for showing to public the true nature of President's Zardari's visit and exposing his corruption.
Therefore, 'Zardari and company' felt offended on being shown the mirror and had committed aggression against the media, they added. The JI leaders said rulers boasted of allowing free media but were practically trying to strangulate it. They however declared that the nation won't tolerate any curbs on media and if the rulers did not mend their ways, JI would launch countrywide protest against the anti media policies.-PR
