Seminar on 'Strengthening SMEs for a better tomorrow' held

Chief Executive Officer of Business Support Fund (BSF) Saqib Mohyuddin has said that industry was wasting a huge amount of Rs 540 billion due to non-professionals, and we would have to get rid of non-professionals to promote our business and to earn maximum profit.
Delivering his lecture at a seminar on "Strengthening SMEs for a Better Tomorrow" jointly organised by BSF and Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Monday. Malik Asrar Ahmed Awan President of MCCI chaired the event. He said that BSF was doing work on a project of supplying technically skilled persons to industrial units. BSF would also pay their salaries of training period. He said that SMEs could progress by leaps and bounds if they act upon the advises of professionals in letter and in spirit to boost up their business.
He said the government has taken interest in the SME sector of Pakistan due to which BSF has been taken over by new management and is in the process of restructuring and repositioning itself. Currently all stakeholders are involved in designing new policies and strategies for the future of BSF.
Our mission is to improve economic growth by creating an enabling culture through higher productivity, value creation, knowledge management and innovation in the SME and Business Development sector for Pakistan. The BSF management would appreciate comments and suggestions on the policy framework before concluding its strategy. He disclosed that government was establishing SME micro-small marketing company for marketing and Islamic capital fund was being established to facilitate the SMEs.
