LDA demolishes eight illegal constructions

11 Aug, 2010

The staff of the Town Planning Wing and Enforcement Directorate of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has on Tuesday demolished eight illegal constructions, besides sealing another seven premises situated on M M Alam Road and in various other parts of Gulberg.
According to a LDA's spokesman, these properties had either not been commercialised or required building plans for these structures had not been approved from LDA. On property number 45-D-I, situated on road adjoining M M Alam Road, a restaurant was being constructed without the approval of building plan by LDA. As commercial activity has also been disallowed on this road, LDA demolished the building earlier on July 28 but the owner again raised the structure, which was demolished on Tuesday.
Property number 116-P situated on road from Main Market to Mini Market was partially demolished, as commercial construction had been made after approval of residential building plan. Commercialisation fee for the plot had also not been deposited by the owner.
Since illegal commercial activity was being carried out on property number 92-B-II, Mehmood Ali Qasoori Road, leading from Hussain Chowk to Railway line, and building plan had also not been approved, the structure was completely demolished by LDA. Property number 165-A, Block P, Mini Market, was completely demolished due to non-commercialisation of plot and non-approval of building plan as well as for commercial construction without approval. Construction on plot number 102-B-II, M M Alam Road, was partially demolished (pillars/frame structure), as commercial construction had been made on site after approval of residential plan without commercialisation of the plot.
Property number 3-A-III, Mehmood Ali Qasoori Road, leading from Hussain Chowk to Railway line (commercialised in 2002) was constructed with a 'residential plan' approved in 2007 while bypassing commercialisation directorate. The building was partially destroyed on July 28 and on Tuesday could not be completely demolished due to absence of excavator at the site.
Moreover, neither commercialisation nor building plans had been approved for properties number 8-C-II and 4-C-II on M M Alam Road. Both of these buildings were demolished. Although Commercialisation has been approved for plot number 92-B-I, on M M Alam Road, it was partially demolished due to Illegal addition/alteration. The seven properties that were sealed on account of illegal commercial use on M M Alam Road included 59-B-III, 101-B-III, 102-B-III, 124-P-III, 1-C/III, 8-C/II, I-C/II and 5-A Block-P.
