Federal Minister for Trade & Commerce, Makhdoom Amin Fahim Tuesday visited flood protection bunds at Hala and Matiari and directed authorities to utilise all available resources for protecting the lives and properties of common man. Though expressing satisfaction over the flood fighting measures adopted by the authorities, he said there was still room for improvement.
He urged upon the people not to pay heed to rumours, but be courageous to face the situation. He asked the officers that still they had two to three days to overcome the lacuna and redress it in time. Fahim affirmed that the government would use all its resources to compensate the losses caused by floods.
Many friendly countries were offering financial aid and hopefully, we would be out the prevailing crises soon, he added. Earlier, Administrator District Matiari Saqib Soomro, while briefing the minister, said that in addition to relief camps in Saeedabad, Hala and Matiari, 150 tents had been set up to facilitate the flood victims 24/7. He said strict vigilance was being made at the embankments.
