Chief Co-ordinator of CM Ramzan Package, Haji Muhammad Nawaz has said the Punjab government earmarked Rs 2 billion to provide subsidised food items to the people during Ramazan. He further said that now it was the responsibility of the concerned departments and officials to make joint efforts so that people could get benefits out of this public welfare programme.
Addressing a meeting held at the Commissioner Office on Thursday to review the arrangements made for sastay Ramazan bazaars, he asked the concerned officials to ensure smooth supply of cheap food items at sastay Ramazan bazaars and make all out efforts to provide maximum relief to the masses. He further said that co-ordinated efforts are required to implement the Ramazan package and all the concerned officials should endeavour to make it a success.
The meeting discussed prices of flour, sugar, pulses, dates, onions, potatoes and other edibles fixed for sastay Ramazan bazaars besides pondering over security, traffic management, weight and measures and other issues relating to Ramazan bazaars.
Briefing the meeting, Commissioner Tahir Hussain said that 36 sastay Ramazan bazaars had been set up across the division to provide cheap commodities to the masses. He has further said that 72 sastay Sehr-o-Ifthar Dastarkhwans are also functional in the division where cheap meals would be supplied to the poor people. RPO Aftab Cheema told the meeting that foolproof security arrangements had been finalised for sastay Ramazan bazaars.
DCOs, DPOs, EDORs, TMOs and DMOs of all the four districts apprised the meeting of arrangements finalised for the holy month of Ramazan and assured that all possible efforts would be made to facilitate the people during this month.
