LHC CJ directs SSP to look into murder of BA student

The Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice has directed SSP investigation to look into the alleged murder of a B.A student Azeem Abbas by police officials of Barki police and submit his report by August 16. Earlier Additional SP Cantt in his report submitted before the court said that the deceased was involved in criminal cases and a court had declared him absconder.
How an FIR at Barki police station has been registered against the police officials involved in his murdered and investigation is under way, the report added. According to police report Shahid Ali with his cousin Azeem abbas were on their way in a car when police constables Sarwar, Anwar, Javaid and others stopped them and took Azeem to police station. They snatched a mobile and Rs 20,000 from him and later refused to tell about his whereabouts to his cousin.
On 30 July last a dead body was found in drain in the area and later was identified as the dead body of the deceased Azeem. Chief Justice summoned DIG Operations and SHO police station Barki for Thursday (today) along with complete case record. The notice was taken on a news item appeared in an Urdu daily revealing the crime of police.
CJ taking suo motu notice over the incident had observed that newspapers were replete with tales of atrocities of police though the high-ups of the force were alleging otherwise and had directed Advocate General to ensure compliance of the order and assist the court in the matter.
