The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Thursday sent first consignment of relief goods comprising 15 truckloads of eatables and clean drinking water to Multan and Muzaffargarh. The LCCI Senior Vice President Ijaz A Mumtaz, Executive Committee Members Mudassar Masood, Anwaar A Sheikh, Mian Zahid Javaid, Dr Shahid Raza dispatched the consignment having 2250 boxes of eatables and daily use items, 4500 bags of wheat flour 2250 water bottles.
The total worth of the first consignment is over Rs 3.5 million. The goods included flour, ghee, sugar, rice, dry milk, pickle, dates, biscuits, tea, roasted grams, Dal Channa, salt, red chilli, candles, match boxes, 12-litre water bottle and a tent. The second consignment of 30 truckloads of relief goods would be dispatched to some other part of the country on August 14.
Speaking on the occasion, the LCCI Senior Vice President Ijaz A Mumtaz said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry would extend every possible help to the flood affected people as the business community was quite conscious of its national obligations and was already doing the maximum. He said that the spirit shown by the whole nation in this hour of need has no match in history.
