Islamabad Police in a bid to mitigate the sufferings of flood victims, organised a special ceremony to raise funds, and collected a donation of Rs 2.5 million in the function held here on Thursday. The activity will remain continue to raise maximum amounts for the flood relief fund to help in relief and rehabilitation of the affectees, said Kaleem Imam, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad while addressing the function.
The fund-raising ceremony was attended by representatives of civil society, traders community, volunteers collecting funds by their own and officials of Islamabad police, including Capital police chief Syed Kaleem Imam. It was the idea of SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan to arrange the ceremony and to mobilise community to contribute to flood relief fund.
Kaleem Imam said that to help people in need is duty of every Muslim, hence community should come forward and contribute wholeheartedly to the fund created for the providing livelihood to the flood-affected people. Kaleem Imam said that Islamabad police is contributing in social welfare activities besides ensuring protection to the lives and property of the citizens.
The donations collected in the ceremony would be soon sent to the areas affected by floods, IGP added. On the occasion, Fateha was offered for those who lost their lives in plane crash at Margallah hills Islamabad and one-minute silence was also observed. Services of police officials including Rescue 15 staff, SP City Sajid Kiani, ASP Haroon Joeya, SHO Kohsar, volunteers, CDA officials and workers were lauded during rescue operation.
