Naval Chief visits affected areas

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Noman Bashir on Thursday visited flood affected areas of Ghotki, Sukkur and Khairpur to review the current flood situation. A Pakistan Navy statement issued here said that the Naval Chief flew over the affected areas and witnessed present flood situation on ground.
He was briefed by Commander Coast Vice Admiral Tayyab Ali Dogar on the progress of rescue and relief efforts by Pakistan Navy. The Naval Chief directed the Commander Coast to employ all available resources and provide maximum assistance to the flood affectees.
The Admiral expressed his satisfaction on the progress of relief operation and instructed to supplement the rescue teams and equipment to augment relief efforts. He also assured of maximum support of Pakistan Navy in relief and rehabilitation of flood victims.
Joint flood relief efforts of PN helicopters, hovercrafts, boats and diving teams of Pakistan Navy are in progress. During last 24 hours, PN rescue teams evacuated 10,000 people from various places to safer locations, bringing the total evacuation to 53,000 till now. Pakistan Navy helicopters air-dropped 5,500 kilograms relief goods and ration in Kashmore, Panu Aqil, Sukkur, Karampur, Tangwani and Khairpur areas. 2,500 kilograms ready-to-cook food was also dispatched to Sukkur by PN Fokker.
