Fresh troops deployed to assist Sindh government, PDMA

Pakistan Army on Monday deployed fresh troops to assist the Sindh government and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) for preparing and organising camps for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) for the affected persons of Jacobabad and Shikarpur in Sukkur.
Pakistan Army has further geared up the relief and rescue operations in flood affected areas of Sindh. Troops deployed at Guddo Barrage and Kot Sabzal trying hard to keep the National Highway open. They are assisting the National Highway Authority (NHA) and the provincial irrigation department by filling the breaches and the marginal bund near Reny Canal and to ensure dewatering of the highway.
Pakistan Army has diverted the flood water to the less populated areas to ensure safety of railway tracks. The flooded Lodra Grid Station at Shikarpur has been made functional with sustained efforts of Pakistan Army. Transformer shifted to the roof and the power supply to upper Sindh and Balochistan has been restored.
An ISPR press release issued here from Corp Headquarter (CHQ) Karachi said Major General Nasrullah Tahir Dogar, General Officers Commanding (GOC), Pano Aqil Garrison chaired a high level meeting with Director General (DG) PDMA and Secretary Irrigation Sindh.
The purpose of the meeting establishes a co-ordination with Pakistan Army and the civil administration regarding camping for the IDPs, accommodation of affected of Jacobabad and Shikarpur districts and provision of food and medicines to them. Pakistan Army would shoulders this responsibility and would share the burden of meals, health and medicines. Separate arrangements for the cattle are also made to reduce the miseries of marooned people, the press release added.
