Apart from three to four hours of loadshedding people in some areas are now facing over 15 hours of power outages. Gulistane-e-Johar, Suchal Goth, University of Karachi, Gulzar-r-Hijri, Pehluwan Goth, Johar Mor, Safoora Goth and Mosmiat faced almost 15 hours of power breakdown on Sunday because of the faults occurred in Johar grid station of Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC).
The power supply to these areas after the fault occurred at around 2am could not restored till 5:30pm as the company failed to resolve the issue, which caused tripping of over 28 feeders, sources said.
The helpline of the company kept on giving different excuses for the breakdown. Despite the daylong power breakdown the affected areas also faced the scheduled loadshedding soon after the restoration of power supply which irked the crisis-hit citizens some of them also came on road in Mosmiat area protesting against the company. The slow paced repairing works at the defaulting grid station also showed the negligence of the concerned authorities of the company who, despite repeated attempts did not attend the phone calls of media persons.
