The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has quadrupled its aid appeal for Pakistan to US$73.6 million. The Geneva-based grouping of national Red Cross chapters says the additional funds are needed to meet growing humanitarian needs following devastating floods that killed nearly 1,500 people.
The IFRC said Thursday that the money would help Pakistan's Red Crescent society provide emergency relief, shelter, medical care and sanitation to over 900,000 people.
