Finland to donate another 3.2 million euros for flood relief

20 Aug, 2010

The government of Finland will donate a relief grant worth 3.2 million euros to provide relief to the population, devastated by flash floods hitting across the country.
"In addition to 1.2 million euros contributed last week, Finland has now taken a decision to donate another 3.2 million euros in emergency aid in response to Pakistan's flood crisis, which makes a total amount of 4.4 million euros," said Katja Kalamki, Deputy Head of Mission in a press release issued here.
Kalamki said international support is vital to deal with such a huge and devastating humanitarian crisis well co-ordinated, timely and extensive. In addition to the flood response of 4.4 million euros, Finland is also providing other humanitarian support worth 1.3 million euros. Thus the overall total amount of humanitarian assistance for Pakistan in 2010 is 5.7 million euros. Finland's contribution has been channelled through the United Nations system and Finnish non-governmental organisation.
