Jamaat-e-Islami chief, Syed Munawar Hasan and Secretary General, Liaquat Baloch, have said the brutal killing of two brothers in Sialkot in the presence of police and baton-charge on girl students of Bahawalpur's Medical College shows that Punjab has turned into a police state.
In a joint press statement issued here on Saturday, the JI leaders said there ruled jungle law in Punjab and life, property and honour of the citizens are not safe from the hands of the law enforcing personnel. It is a pity, they said, that the chief minister, claiming to be the 'Khadam-e-Aala', does not deem it necessary to express regrets on the two incidents.
They termed the killing through torture, in the presence of police officers a blot on the face of Punjab government and the law enforcing agencies, saying and the incident has lowered the image of the country at the international level also. The JI leaders welcomed Supreme Court for taking suo moto notice of the incident and hoped that justice would be done and the culprits would be brought to book.
