Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has announced to move privilege motion in the National Assembly against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain for his statement asking the "patriotic Army general" to act against corrupt politician and feudal.
PML-N has also urged the Supreme Court and the Election Commission of Pakistan to take suo motu notice of the statement, which it said it unconstitutional and undemocratic. The statement of Altaf Hussain about martial laws is irresponsible and a politician cannot give such statement, said Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, while addressing a news conference here on Monday in his Chamber.
"Altaf Hussain gave this statement to please the Army generals. He can register his party with the Armed Forces and can work as flatterer regiment of the Army," he said. He said that Altaf Hussain refreshed the memory of Musharaf's era and his unconstitutional and unlawful actions. "The MQM has supported military dictatorship through this statement. The people could not forget Karachi carnage of May 12, 2007," he said.
Nisar said if Altaf Hussain want action against corrupt politicians, his party should support PML-N in getting a transparent accountability bill passed from National Assembly's Standing Committee on Law and Justice. About the flood commission, he said that Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani should not give unnecessary arguments. He said provinces are not hurdle in the way of constitution of the commission. "The wall has been erected by the Presidency in the way of the proposed Commission," he argued.
To a question, Nisar said that some elements want to destabilise the democratic system and trying to play power game. To another question, he said that all record of "Qarz Uttaro Mulk Sanwaro" campaign was with State Bank of Pakistan. We are answerable for any misappropriation of the amount, he said.
