An Additional District & Sessions Judge (AD&SJ) here Saturday handed over two minor girls to their mother after getting them recovered from the illegal custody of their grandmother. Naseem Akhter from Gujrat had filed a habeas corpus petition submitting that after the death of her husband, she left her daughters Sobiya (5) and Ayesha (3), with her mother-in-law.
After sometime, she came to know that the children were not being treated pleasingly at the residence of their grandmother. She therefore went to her mother-in-law to take her daughters back. However, she was denied custody of the minors, the petitioner said, adding that her mother-in-law misbehaved with her and forcibly made her leave the house.
Naseem Akhter prayed to the court to depute a bailiff for the recovery of her kids from the illegal custody of their grandmother, and thus, they handed over to her. The judge, after handing-over the minors, disposed off the petition. In another habeas corpus case, the judge granted custody of an orphan boy to his grandmother after getting him recovered from his stepmother.
The grandmother Khurshid Bibi from Baghbanpura had filed a petition contending that her son Liaqat Ali, after divorcing his first wife, contracted marriage with a lady Ms Khalida. Liaqat started living in a Sabzazar area house along-with his second wife and his minor son Talha, born from his first wife. Later, Liaqat was murdered and his second wife Ms Khalid retained the custody of the minor, the petitioner said. She prayed that her grandson be recovered from the custody of his stepmother and be handed over to herself. The judge, through a bailiff, got the minor recovered and granted his custody to Khurshid Bibi.
