Indian occupation troops killed six suspected militants as they tried to cross border with Pakistan that divides the volatile region of Kashmir, the occupation army said on Monday. "The occupation army has foiled a major infiltration attempt by killing six alleged militants who were trying to infiltrate into held Kashmir from across the Line of Control (LoC)," occupation army spokesman J.S. Brar told AFP.
He said the gunbattle erupted late Sunday in western Uri sector and continued throughout the night after occupation troops noticed a group of alleged militants trying to sneak in under the cover of darkness. Elsewhere in Indian-controlled Kashmir, street violence that has rocked the volatile Himalayan region for the last two months continued, with four people injured when police opened fired in the main city of occupied Srinagar.
