The Ambassador of United Arab Emirates in Pakistan Ali Saif Sultan Al-Awani called on Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Owais Ahmed Ghani, at Governor's House, Peshawar on Monday and discussed matters relating to relief activities of the UAE Red Crescent Society for the flood affectees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Ali Saif Sultan Al-Awani, who earlier visited flood affected areas, expressed deep sense of sympathy and fraternity on behalf of the Government and people of UAE over the human and property losses in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa He also briefed the Governor about the humanitarian help and assistance being extended by UAE Government and its people through various means to help the Pakistani brethren.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor thanked him for the generous support and assistance which the Government and people of UAE are extending in this hour of trial and conveyed best wishes on behalf of the people of the province and FATA.
Meanwhile, the Dubai based Pakistanis have provided an amount of Rs 1 million to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani to help destitute and bereaved families, who have lost their loved ones in the recent floods in the province and as per the donor's wishes, 34 flood affected families of District Charsadda, who were in desperate straits, were given the assistance on Monday.
The recipients, comprising legal heirs of 15 martyrs and 19 injured of recent floods were given cash assistance of Rs 20,000 for each family. On behalf of the Governor, a team of senior officials of Governor's staff including Ali Sher Khan Mehsud, Additional Secretary to Governor, Major Shumayal, ADC to Governor and Waseem Khan Khalil, DSP went to the doorsteps of each and every affected family and formally handed over the assistance. The team will be visiting District Nowshera today where nine affected families including three martyrs and six injured will be provided the cash assistance.
