The Punjab Food department has called for lists of all the officers of the department to ensure that no official of the department is performing his duties after retirement without extension from the competent authority. This was stated by the Punjab Food Minister Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor while presiding over a departmental meeting here on Friday.
The Minister warned that the government would not tolerate any illegality, said a spokesman. The Minister also disclosed that the Punjab Chief Minister had constituted a committee to analyse the avenues for construction of new godowns to keep wheat at safe places. He said that the province had wheat reserves in abundance despite the fact that some stored wheat had suffered due to rain and flood water.
Ghafoor stated that the country was no more in the era when people had to wait for hours in the queue to get flour. He said Pakistan is an agricultural country and almost 70 percent of its population is attached to the agriculture. He said country would be prosperous if farmers get prosperous.
