Deputy Chairman of Senate Jan Muhammad Jamali called on President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday and updated him about the measures taken by the Balochistan government for the relief and rehabilitation of flood victims. In a meeting held at Bilawal House in Karachi, the Deputy Chairman apprised the President about the ongoing relief operation in Balochsitan's flood-hit areas.
President Zardari stressed for expediting the relief and rescue measures for the two million persons in Balochistan, that had been affected by the devastating floods. He inquired the Deputy Chairman about the situation of the availability of cooked food and portable drinking water in the province, for which he had earlier issued directives. President Zardari said the whole nation was united in coping with the gigantic task of relief and rehabilitation of flood victims and he was personally monitoring rescue and rehabilitation operations.
He directed the provincial government to carry out relief measures on priority basis in the flood-affected areas especially Jaffarabad and Nasirabad districts, that had been heavily affected by severe flooding. Jan Muhammad Jamali also apprised the President about restoration of infrastructure in the ravaged areas.
