The Imamia Students Organisation (ISO) and Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen on Sunday staged a protest rally in front of Islamabad Press Club against the suicide attack on Al-Quds Day rallies in Quetta and Lahore in which scores of people were killed and injured.
A large number of activists of the two organisations assembled there and chanted slogans against the government which, they said, had failed to provide protection to the lives and property of the citizens.
They also demanded suspension of Interior Minister Rehman Malik. They said that for the last three decades Jummatul Wida of Ramazanul Mubarak has been observed as Al-Quds Day across the world to express solidarity with the Palestinians subjected to Israel's barbarism, and to keep alive the issue which is unbearable for Israel and its local agents. That was why they did this.
The representatives of these organisations demanded launching a judicial inquiry to unearth the culprits. The protesters also demanded suspension of Balochistan IGP, and added that FIR should be registered against him who despite knowing all facts did not provide foolproof security to the procession.
They said that hundreds of innocent people had been killed in such incidents but the government had not brought any culprit to the book so far, "which is proof of the government's ineffectiveness".
