On the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, household items were distributed among 400 poorest families of two flood affected localities, Mohana and Abbas Wala of Tehsil Kot Addu district Muzaffargarh, by Member National Assembly Muhammad Afzal Khokhar.
This was revealed in information received here on Sunday. Member Punjab Assembly Ahmed Yar Hanjra, Commissioner and Regional Police Officer DG Khan were also present on the occasion. Mohana and Abbas Wala localities of Hanjrai Union Council, Muzaffargarh were the first to be hit by the flood and suffered colossal damage in terms of houses and crops.
Chief Minister Punjab had issued instructions for immediate relief to the residents of these localities and a special committee headed by Deputy Secretary Suhail Ahmed Tipu was set up. The committee identified 400 poorest of the poor families and household items were distributed among them keeping in view the daily needs of a house.
Small and big tents were provided according to the size of the family. Water coolers, plates, spoons, stove, soap, Dettol, candles and 15-kg ration bags were provided to each family whereas 400 tents, 180 sleeping bags and Ramazan food package bags were also distributed among 1,500 persons. The affected families lauded the efforts of CM Punjab in this regard.
