Samina Khalid Ghurki, Federal Social Welfare Minister and special education, has taken over as Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Lahore president. Party sources said the party leadership has issued notification regarding the replacement of the Lahore chapter president with immediate effect. She has replaced Chaudhry Asghar Gujjar as PPP president Lahore.
Party sources further said the decision of replacing PPP Lahore president was taken by the party leadership some three months in the central executive committee meeting. Some party circles, meanwhile, have expressed their displeasure over the move ahead of Eid. According to them, it was quite wise to change the guards after Eid, as Asghar Gujjar had chalked out number of plans to motivate party during Eid on relief work for flood hit Pakistanis.
