Restraining blasphemy act: Zafarul Haq calls on UN, world bodies to use influence

10 Sep, 2010

Senior Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) leader Raja Muhammad Zafarul Haq has given an SOS call to the United Nations and other world organisations to use their influence in stopping the maddening intention of a priest of Florida, USA, Terry Jones to burn copies of Holy Qur'an on 9/11 this year.
Also the secretary-general of World Muslim Congress (Motamar Al-Alam Al-Islami), Senator Raja Zafarul Haq approached UN secretary-general Ban Ki Moon, secretary-general League of Arab States Amre Mousa, secretary-general OIC Professor Dr Ekmeleddin Ishangolu, as well as alerted branches of Motamar-Al-Alam Al-Islami across the world to use their influence to stop this madness, which would destroy the efforts of a large number of international organisations and individuals, working for interfaith tolerance, harmony and co-operation for several decades.
The PML-N leader informed that the congress, as one of the pioneers in the noble struggle for interfaith dialogue, has received a highly positive response form all over the world against the mad priest, but Florida's priest seems still adamant to commit this heinous crime against humanity. He said it is now up to the US administration as a global obligation that it uses all ways and means to stop such a horrible crime against religion and international peace.
