Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration and Islamabad Police have evolved a comprehensive security plan for Eid-ul-Fitr and decided to deploy over 2,500 police personnel, Anti Terrorist Squad officials and dozens of police vehicles to ensure peace and security in the capital.
Huge contingents of police and anti terrorist squad have been deployed on security checkpoints in the city and entry and exit points to ensure the safety and security.
Islamabad police have chalked out a comprehensive security plan and cancelled the holidays of Islamabad Police to ensure the security of lives and property of the citizens, as most of the people, who stay in Islamabad for the purpose of their jobs, are leaving the capital to celebrate Eid in their respective hometowns with their families which makes Islamabad vulnerable to make robberies, therefore, special attention will be given to the safety of property, a spokesman of Islamabad Police said on Thursday.
He said that the Islamabad Police and other law enforcement agencies were asked to remain more vigilant in checking people entering the capital. Foolproof security arrangements were being made for Eid congregations in the city, he added. He said that Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Islamabad will supervise the plan, while Sub-division Police Officers (SDPOs) will check the pickets and patrolling officials in their respective areas and will be responsible for security of their areas.
Under this plan over 2,500 police personnel were deployed all over the capital, while 80 pickets were set up on entry points of the capital and 100 vehicles would remain on patrolling duty, he said. In addition, bomb disposal squad and other organisations were also put on high alert and these services will remain available at short notice, the spokesman said.
