LCCI outraged at remarks of Florida Pastor

10 Sep, 2010

The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry has taken a very strong exception to the statement of a Florida State Pastor and demanded of the government to make it clear to the US government that any such step by any US citizen is bound to evoke strong reaction that could lead to a boycott of US products all over the Islamic world.
The LCCI President Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry, Senior Vice President Ijaz A Mumtaz and Vice President Faisal Iqbal Sheikh in a joint statement hoped that the US government would not let this bad and sad incident happen but if the man is not stopped and allowed to act on his nefarious designs, the LCCI would be the first to launch a drive for a boycott of US products not only in Pakistan but all over the Islamic world.
The LCCI office-bearers urged the US government to take this matter seriously that could create multiple problems for the United States. They said that the remarks of the Florida Pastor had hurt the sentiments of the Muslim World. "It seems that the Florida Priest Terry Jones is a mad man who had made an attempt to create a controversy by announcing to set ablaze copies of the holy Quran", they added.
The LCCI office-bearers said that it was a provocative act of a priest who was bent upon to defame Christianity and wanted to gain cheap popularity by issuing such statements, thus the US administration should take notice of the gravity of the situation and take appropriate measures to stop the priest from acting on his nefarious designs.
