Chaudhry Zaheeruddin, a senior central leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Q, has lashed out at Shahbaz Sharif's 'flood politics' and dubbed it as a 'pack of lies'. He also condemned Shahbaz's administration for claiming to give financial help before Eid to the needy and helpless flood victims. He expressed these views during his visit to the flood-hit areas of southern Punjab, here on Thursday.
The PML-Q leader said Pakistan Muslim League had proposed a financial relief package of Rs 500,000 for each affected family, waiver of all agricultural loans, provision of free fertilisers and seeds to the affected farmers, and carrying out a survey for registration of flood victims and a realistic ascertainment of their damages.
Punjab government, due to its criminal negligence, firstly allowed the floods to cause an unprecedented devastation in the province and now, instead of addressing the genuine needs of the flood victims, it is busy trying to divert public attention from real issues, he maintained. Zaheeruddin vociferously condemned Punjab government for making false promises to the flood-stricken millions and said that the poor flood victims have lost faith in Punjab's rulers and are justified in blaming them for all the hardships they are facing due to floods.
