Government plans distributing free seed, fertilisers to farmers: Zardari

President Asif Ali Zardari said Thursday that greatest damage was caused to agriculture sector in the floods and seed and fertilisers will be distributed free-of-cost among the flood-hit small farmers all over the country. He was talking to members of FPCCI core committee led by its president Sultan Chawla at Bilawal House.
The president said that task of rehabilitation is very big and everyone must contribute to it. Sindh Finance Minister Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister's Advisor on Planning and Development, Dr Qaiser Bengali, provincial Finance Secretary, Secretary General to President Salman Farooqui, President's Spokesperson Farhatullah Babar, Chief Executive TDAP, Syed Mohibullah Shah also attended the meeting.
"We are seeking international assistance but in order to convince international community for help, we have to raise our own resources," the President said. He asked the business community to think and suggest how to generate indigenous resources specially for meeting our needs in the rebuilding. We have to rebuild the country and have the opportunity to rebuild it better, he remarked. President Zardari pointed out that the government was planning to conserve the floodwater in future for long term storage in deserts so that it can be utilised for irrigation and drinking purposes.
