Pietersen's miserable form continues

11 Sep, 2010

Kevin Pietersen's miserable form continued on Friday as the axed England batsman was dismissed for just one run in the second innings of his County Championship debut for Surrey. Pietersen had hoped to use his loan spell at second division Surrey to rediscover his touch after being dropped from England's squad for the current one-day international series against Pakistan.
The 30-year-old desperately needs to get back in form ahead of the Ashes tour to Australia later this year. But Pietersen, who fell for a second-ball duck in the first innings against Glamorgan, made just one from 23 balls before he was trapped lbw by James Harris at the Oval.
Surrey had started their second innings with a lead of 104 after dismissing Glamorgan for 27, but they lost five wickets, including Pietersen, for six runs as the visitors took control. Pietersen's measly return came in the same week he was fined an undisclosed sum by English cricket bosses after his foul-mouthed rant on micro blogging site Twitter about the decision to leave him out of England's one-day squad.
