Breaching of bunds by landlords: LHC tribunal commences proceedings today

A three-member inquiry tribunal headed by Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah of Lahore High Court will commence its proceedings from Tuesday (today) into breaches of bunds allegedly by influential landlords. Secretary (retired) irrigation & power department Punjab Mansoob Ali Zaidi and Dean (civil engineering) UET Abdul Sattar Shakir are members of the tribunal.
Secretary irrigation and power, secretary home and director general meteorological department will appear before the tribunal on September 19. They will inform the tribunal about all details regarding the recent floods and will submit their written statements. These officers will also mention relevant rules and regulations, terms and conditions, maps and details of flood areas and video footage in their statements.
Provincial secretary irrigation will also submit the names of officers who were deployed in the flood hit areas before and during the flood. The tribunal will also visit and hold hearings in the flood affected areas from September 20 onwards starting from Jinnah Barrage, District Mianwali down to Mithan Kot, District Rajanpur.
