Drug Enforcement Cell (DEC) of Pakistan Customs on Monday foiled attempt to smuggle four kilogram contraband heroin worth Rs 1 billion from suitcase of Italy bound Pakistani passenger at Jinnah International Airport.
According to details, the Customs DEC staff intercepted a Pakistani passenger Asad Abbas Bukhari, originally from Sargodha, at the International Departure Hall of the Jinnah International Airport when he came there to take Emirates Airlines Flight EK-605 for Milan (Italy) through Dubai (UAE).
A thorough search of his hard top suitcase led to the recovery of 4Kg fine quality white heroin as concealed in false top and bottom cavities of the suitcase. It may be added here that as per directives of Additional Collector of Customs Manzoor Hussain Memon, the customs staff at airport had already been put on high alert as the drug trafficking mafia often manipulates the abnormal conditions during Eid holidays.-PR
