Two MQM activists gunned down

Two activists of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were gunned down in a fresh spree of targeted killings in the city on Tuesday, police said. A worker and member of MQM Buzurg Committee Aziz-ul-Rehman, 40, son of Mohammad Taqi and a resident of Munir Mohammad Baloch area, Baghdadi was gunned down after physical torture.
He was kidnapped by armed men when he was going to see his family members after offering prayers some two days ago. After physical torture, armed men shot him dead and threw his body at Fariya Street near M H School within Kharadar police limits.
The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) where doctors pronounced him dead. According to the MLO, he received five bullets in his upper torso. In another incident, an activist of MQM was gunned down by armed men at Sikandarabad in the jurisdiction of Liaquatabad police station. Police said the deceased has been identified as Kaleem Ahmed son of Nisar Ahmed, resident of Sikandarabad area near Hanifia Mosque.
They said the deceased was sitting in front of his house when two motorcyclists appeared there and sprayed him with bullets, killing Kaleem on the spot. The deceased was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy. The Medico Legal Officer (MLO) said the deceased received three bullets in his chest.
Police said the deceased was an active worker of MQM Unit 159 and his brother Javed Ahmed is also a party activist. On the complaint of Javed, police have registered FIR No 437/10 against unidentified men and started probe. After Kaleem's murder, a large number of his associates reached ASH and chanted slogans against law enforcement agencies for their failure to curb targetted killings. Business activities were suspended in the area.
Two people including a cop were killed in two different incidents in the city. 32-year-old Abdul Razzaq son of Mohammad Ishaq was killed by armed men in his house. Police said the victim has served jail term for looting a house and was released from prison some 15 days ago.
SHO Pak Colony police said Razzaq was member of a gang, which is involved in robberies and other heinous crimes. He was also nominated in FIRs in various police stations of the city. The reason behind the murder could not be ascertained. In another incident, an under training cop was crushed to death near Sea View in the limits of Darakhshan police. Police officials said 21-year-old Sakhawat Ali son of Malik Mumtaz was an under training cop in District Khairpur. He was killed when a speedy vehicle run him over at Sea View. Police shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for legal formalities and later handed over to Sakhawat's heirs.
