CDGK price list being sold at Sabzi Mandi!

15 Sep, 2010

Due to lack of proper administrative control, the price lists of fruit and vegetables issued by the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) is being sold to the wholesalers and retailers by the black marketers at Rs 10 to 30 per list at New Sabzi Mandi, it is learnt.
The Enterprise and Investment Promotion (E&IP) department of CDGK is primarily responsible for issuing the price list free of cost on daily basis at the Sabzi Mandi. According to sources, the responsible persons at the Mandi, through their agents were allegedly selling the list to wholesalers and retailers. The over 5000 to 6000 lists issued on a daily basis have become a big sources of income for the concerned staff of CDGK, sources added.
They said wholesalers and retailers have to display the original price list with official stamp with the changes made on daily basis. But there was no proper way to distribute the list in the fruit market, which led these black sheep to mint money through a novel way. As the magistrates-led team checks the availability and implementation of the list in the city markets, the agents were making quick bucks through selling the list, sources said. The Executive District Officers of the department could not be reached for comments.
