Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik has lauded the role of Frontier Constabulary (FC) in fighting against terrorists and its rescue operation in flood-hit areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The FC has played great role in war against terrorism and its officers and officials have rendered unparalleled sacrifices to protect the country from the menace of terrorism, the Minister said while talking to newly appointed Commandant FC, Akbar Hoti, who called on him in Interior Ministry on Monday.
Malik approved new vehicles and bullet-proof jackets for the FC and assured to provide full assistance to the force for elimination of terrorism. Malik assured to utilise all available resources to enhance performance of the Frontier Constabulary.
He announced to lift ban on filling vacancies in Frontier Constabulary, saying that he wants to see the Constabulary in its full strength to work against terrorism. During the meeting, Akbar Hoti apprised the Interior Minister about the performance of the Constabulary. He assured that he will come up to the expectation of the government and people and use all his energies and resources to fight against terrorism.
Akbar Hoti was appointed Commandant of the Frontier Constabulary, after martyrdom of Commandant Safwat Ghayur in a suicide attack in Peshawar. Ghayur was famous for his valour and had played remarkable role in war against terrorism in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
