Due to the reduction of gas supply from Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has announced one-hour load-shedding for the industrial sector. The industrial sector, which was exempted from load shedding for last few months, would now face one-hour power breakdown from Monday, official sources in KESC said.
As SSGC has reduced supply of gas to 140 MMCFD from the routine supply of 210 MMCFD, it was not possible to maintain the exemption of load shedding, they said. "Due to the shortage of gas, the company has decided to give one hour power breakdown to the sector in its third load-shedding cycle", they said, adding that commercial and residential consumers would continue to experience the scheduled load shedding.
According to sources, the SSGC reduced the supply due to some technical faults in its feeders. Besides the announced load shedding for the industrial sector, commercial and residential consumers also faced more power outages than scheduled in most parts of the city.
Parts of Nazimabad, Gulsitan-e-Johar, Malir, AB Cinya Line, Saddar, Keamari and other city outskirts also reported to brave hours' long and frequent power outages on Monday. Mosmiat Area of Gulistan-e-Johar, beside the announced three hours load shedding, faced two spells in the morning on Monday.
