Sehwan town out of danger: Qaim

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that though Sehwan city was safe and out of danger from flood but instead of that its flood protective bund was being strengthened enough to sustain the water pressure whatsoever it to be. This he observed while talking to journalists after holding meeting with the public representatives, officers of district Jamshoro and Irrigation Department at Irrigation Rest House Sehwan on Monday.
The Chief Minister Sindh said that the water level of River Indus has been now reduced and was 3 feet lower to flood water being disposed off into river as such the flood water was being efficiently disposed off into river and hopefully its pressure on the flood protective bunds would be reduced within 2 to 4 days. He also maintained that velocity in the flood water coming from upper Sindh has also been reduced. He said that the Wapda authorities have also been directed to strengthen the embankments of MNV Drain and this work was also in progress. He said that all efforts were being made to let the flood water continued within its present course to avoid further losses.
Responding a question, the Chief Minister Sindh said that efforts were being made to complete the payment of Rs 20,000 to each flood affected family through Nadra within 40-days as such the registration of affected families has been expedited at all places. To another question, the Chief Minister Sindh said that he doesn't agree with the figure of losses and affected people and properties as shown by other Federal agencies. He said that he had raised this issue in the meeting of C.C.I. He said that the agencies concerned had claimed that they had gathered this information from Revenue Department but Revenue Department has denied from such claim. He said that the survey work for flood losses in Sindh was continuing and even Planning & Development Department, Government of Sindh has also been engaged in this task.
The Chief Minister Sindh said that 80 percent population of Katcha areas doesn't posses CNIC, but were affected. He said that mechanism to register these people having no CNIC has also been evolved with consultation of Nadra and assured that they all would be put into the net of beneficiaries of relief assistance. He said that he consider himself as duty bound for providing relief and rehabilitation of flood victims and assured that this job would be performed without any discrimination. He assured the people of Taluka Sehwan that they would not be left alone in this difficult time but to be helped like other flood victims. Earlier, the officers of Sindh Irrigation Department briefed the Chief Minister Sindh with the help of charts and maps about flood affected areas and disposal of flood water into the river.
