HEC professors receive Civil Awards

Two of the Higher Education Commission's foreign professors, Dr Khalida Inayat Noor and Dr Shuakat Mehmood received civil awards on country's Independence Day. Dr Khalida received the Pride of Performance while Dr Mehmood received Sitara-e-Imtiaz, said a news release issued here on Monday.
Dr Noor, who obtained her PhD from Wales University UK, is an internationally renowned figure in Mathematics and is presently employed as HEC Foreign Professor at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) Islamabad. She introduced a new technique called `Noor Integral Operator' which proved to be an innovation in the field of geometric function theory and has brought new dimensions in the realm of research in this area.
She is an active researcher coupled with 35 years teaching experience in different countries. She is the editor/reviewer of about 23 international journals. She has been instrumental in establishing PhD/ MS programmes at CIIT. She has over 300 research articles in reputed international journals of mathematical and engineering sciences.
Dr Shaukat Mahmood, commonly known as Maxim, has been awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the Government for his services to Islamic architecture and arts. Dr Shaukat passed his MA (Fine Arts) from University of the Punjab, Lahore winning a gold medal. He did his MSc in Architectural Conservation from the Heriot-Watt University and PhD from the University of Edinburgh. He was awarded Pride of Performance in 2001 when he was serving at the International Islamic University, Malaysia.
Dr Mahmood has published over 300 papers and research papers on Islamic architecture and Islamic arts. He has been teaching at various international universities. He started his career from UET, Lahore as a lecturer, becoming head of Architecture Department and later Dean of Architecture and Planning. Currently, he is working as HEC Foreign Professor at the Research Centre, College of Art and Design, University of the Punjab.
