Inspector General National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP), Dr Wasim Kausar, has said that NH&MP is service-oriented and friendly police force, therefore, attention must be paid to facilitate the road users by providing timely help, basic traffic education and briefing all and sundry.
He was addressing NH&MP officers in a prize distribution ceremony held here on Monday for recognition and encouragement of the officers who performed excellent work during the current year. The cash prizes and commendation certificates were given to those officers who performed professionally in recovering the stolen vehicles and reuniting the lost children with their parents. The IGP awarded prized to the best officers of every zone.
It was informed that the NH&MP officers recovered 218 vehicles which were stolen/snatched on gun point from different parts of the country, and reunited 98 lost/kidnapped children with their parents during the year from January 2010 to date during patrolling on National Highways and on Motorways.
The NH&MP also arrested many car lifters who were handed over to the concerned local police stations. He directed all the officers to further improve their public dealings by ensuring polite and tolerant attitude towards commuters' especially aggressive road users.
Dr Wasim Kauser elaborated vision of soft policing and said that focusing exclusively on its enforcement that gives an impression of target challenging to commuters has never being the main objective of the department. The soft image that NH&MP has earned is because of politeness, sincerity and selflessness as inculcate a sense of responsibility among the commuters.
