The Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Friday directed a deputy director of National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) Habib Khalid to issue national identity card of a petitioner within 15 days or be ready to go behind the bars. The court issued this order while hearing a petition of former president Faisalabad chemist association Bashir Ahmed.
Petitioner through his counsel submitted that he had shifted to Lahore last year and applied Nadra for the change of home address on the identity card. He said, the Nadra officials told him that record of his card was not available with the authority, when he visited the office to collect his card on the date given by the authority. The court expressing displeasure on the performance of the authority observed that the carelessness of officials concerned would collapse the system. "Importance of identity card for citizen is like blood for human body," the court added.
