PRGMEA elects office-bearers

Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PRGMEA) elections for the office bearers of South Zone were held in the central office of the association in Karachi on Saturday. Polling was conducted for the eight vacant seats of Zonal Managing Committee of PRGMEA.
On these seats, Zubair Parekh, Bilal Mulla, Shehzad Salim, Razzak H. Paracha, Muhammad Yunus Khamisani, Amir Amin Kothawala, Muhammad Saud Elahi, Muhammad Aman were elected with a landslide margin. Almost all the members participated in the election process as a heavy turnout was witnessed. The day also saw garment industry owners and leaders of the textile industry turning out in large numbers to cast their votes and support their respective candidates.
Mohsin Ayub Mirza, outgoing central chairman of PRGMEA said on this occasion that Pakistan's textile industry is currently standing at a critical juncture and witnessing such enthusiasm for the elections makes us all optimistic that the industry is in good hands.
He said the voting process was carried out in a cordial atmosphere and healthy competition and turnout were witnessed. Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PRGMEA) is the only association where free and fair voting witnessed this year. This is a clear sign of healthy competition, he added.
Shaikh Shafiq Rafiq, outgoing zonal chairman of the association, said they tried very hard throughout the year to highlight the plight of the value added garment industry amid ongoing cotton crisis and to see such a turnout is indeed a reward to these efforts.-PR
