PIC providing free treatment facilities

Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) is providing free of cost treatment and diagnostic facilities to the patients at the institute, Medical Superintendent PIC, Dr Jaffar Saleem said here on Monday. The patients visiting the institute are 76 percent poor people and 24 percent government employees. He said that besides patients of angiography, angioplasty, pace maker and by-pass surgery, all the serious patients are admitted in the hospital.
He told that 500 new patients as well as 800 follow up patients visit Out Patient Department (OPD) everyday whereas, 325 patients visit emergency out of which about 50 patients are admitted everyday due to their serious conditions in addition to the patients admitted for angiography, angioplasty, pace maker and by-pass surgery.
Dr Saleem further told that hospital administration is utilising all its resources and capabilities for the treatment and welfare of the cardiac patients and 1500 patients are being provided free medicines on daily basis in OPD. For this purpose, Punjab government has provided sufficient funds to the hospital, which are being utilised to provide best treatment facilities to the poor and deserving patients, he added.
Moreover, Parliamentary Secretary Health Punjab, Dr Saeed Elahi has said that the propaganda regarding Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) is based on malafide intentions and statements of Q-League leader Chaudhry Zaheer ud Din are fake.
