Bid to smuggle flamingos foiled: one held

Pakistan Customs Drug Enforcement Cell (DEC) Jinnah International Airport Unit on Monday foiled a bid to smuggle three flamingoes to Muscat with the help of fake documents. According to sources, the action was taken on a tip-off, which revealed that some unscrupulous persons are going to smuggle three flamingoes to Muscat using fake documents.
Reacting to the said information, the staff of DEC, Jinnah International Airport intercepted a passenger Ahmad Bux with three cages of birds. They said the DEC detained three cages containing precious breed of flamingoes from the possession of the said passenger, who tried to take them out of the country under fake documents. The man was later arrested. Moreover, they said the Customs Department has also taken the Sindh Wildlife Department on board for the seizure and the adjudication of the said case.
