Karachi registers fifth 'Dengue Fever' death

Rustam, a 22 year worker died of Dengue Fever at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital here on Thursday that brought the total casualty to five in 10 days in the metropolis. Dr Shakil Mallik, Co-ordinator, Dengue Surveillance Cell - Sindh Karachi told media that the deceased was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday and passed away on Thursday. Rustam was a resident of Qasba Colony, Orangi Town area.
He was the third dengue-induced death in Karachi within three days. As for laboratory findings, he said since early this year 473 suspected cases were reported to the cell, 380 of them were confirmed to be positive and 198 were identified to be negative. Prior to the death of Rustam, he said Adeeb (28 years old) and Khadija (86 years old) had died of the infection on Wednesday. Mohammad Faheem and Rehan Ali also succumbed to the same virus on September 23 and September 21, respectively.
